About Sonora , KY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Sonora is in southeastern Hardin County, Kentucky and has a population of about 500. There are about 140 households, and 85 families living in this tiny community. It began as an L&N Railroad building camp known as "Bucksnort” which is believed to be connected with the snorting noise early trains made. Customary Bluegrass music with fiddles, the most excellent whiskeys you can find anywhere and astonishingly beautiful scenery all create a homey and old-fashioned atmosphere that is pastoral and community-oriented. Depending on what time of year, you may be interested in different attractions but there is something to do in every season and in all weather.
The Battle of Munfordville (also known as the Battle of Green River) took place in the nearby town of Munfordville in 1862. This battle allowed the Confederates to temporarily secure their grasp on the region and impair enemy supply lines. They did this mostly by attacking railroads in the region. Three places in Munfordville are on the National Register of Historic Places. This would be a grand way to spend a chilly autumn or winter day enjoying a cup of coffee and exploring history up close and personal.
Hot conditions call for lakes, rivers, boating, fishing and swimming, rafting, exploring caves and camping out. And this part of Central Kentucky has adequate nautical and outside fun to keep you active for the whole summer. Kentuckians take advantage of the beautiful weather of summer and spring and get out and about. Twin Lakes - Nolin Lake & Rough River Lake are two popular destinations. The town is also home to progressive civic services, flourishing schools and much, much more. The people who live, work and play here love to swim, fish, boat and more on the area’s many lakes and rivers. Spectacular landscapes, alluring history, incredible chow, beautiful Bluegrass music, and more all create a charm that is hard to deny.
